Day 6 was a tale of errands, “special” experiences, and culinary highs.
The morning began with an attempt to withdraw cash from Scotiabank, the mission being to secure a BIP card for Davie (proof that ES is, in fact, an outstanding girlfriend). The plan backfired when we discovered the fees — so much for Canadian banking loyalty abroad.
Next stop: a “special” café. The branding promised an inclusive experience, but what we received was a crash course reminder that in Chile they speak Spanish — plus cappuccinos that leaned closer to hot chocolate than coffee.
Laundry came next, and with it, a saga. Hours were spent hunting down change for the washing machines. In a twist of fate, NN had a minor “incident” (the less said about anal leakage, the better), which made laundry all the more necessary. Timing, as always, impeccable.
With clean clothes achieved, spirits were restored at Ocult Beer Garden, where drinks wrapped up the workday. From there, the group strolled into Barrio Italia, where impromptu park exercises proved that fitness doesn’t stop just because you’re traveling.
Snacks followed: leftover seafood risotto (later identified as a possible culprit behind gastrointestinal turbulence) and the cherimoyas purchased back in Valparaíso.
The day closed at Yum Cha, where we indulged in a tasting menu of seafood dishes inspired (or generously appropriated) from the chef’s Asian travels. Paired with wine and tea, it was an elegant finale to our Santiago dining adventures.
The evening ended quietly, as NN needed an early night — with a 5am wake-up call for the next chapter: Montevideo.
